Spring is Here: Family-Friendly April Events

Regardless of the season, there is always something fun to do in Houston. Spring is here, and whether you want to enjoy the outdoors or stay indoors to avoid the Texas heat, we have compiled a list of 8 great events happening this month!

 

  • EGG-celent Easter Parade – Tuesday, April 11th, 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM (Free Event)

If you’re looking for an Easter-related event, Discovery Green is hosting an Easter parade today, April 11th, from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM. It’s free to enter and the park will also offer a free photo-op with the Easter Bunny from 9-10:15 AM & at 10:45 AM. There will also be a bubble party, face-painting, balloon artists, music, and Easter crafts! More information here.  

 

  • Children’s Museum Memorial Hermann IRONKIDS Texas Fun Run – Saturday, April 15th, 10:00 AM (Charged Event)

IRONKIDS Texas Fun Run is a great way for your children to enjoy the outdoors and learn about healthy living by participating in either a mile or a half-mile run. Parents, family, and friends are welcomed to cheer along the young racers. The run will take place at Town Green Park in The Woodlands. There is online registration as well as on-site registration from 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM. More information here.

 

  • Sensational Senses WonderWeek at The Children’s Museum of Houston – April 6th – 19th (Charged Event)

Beginning this Friday, April 14th, The Children’s Museum will be hosting Sensational Senses Wonderweek to “celebrate different abilities that make each child and their senses unique”. The activities include Torn Paper Collages, Fitness Check – Peripheral Vision, Toy Take Apart, Sensory Hot Air Balloon and more. Tickets are $12.

Event time: Tues., 4PM-6PM, Wed. and Fri., 2PM-6PM, Thurs., 2PM-8PM., Sat., 12PM-4PM., and Sun., 12PM-6PM. More information here.

 

  • Springworld International Festival at Discovery Green – Saturday, April 15th, 10:30 AM – 4:00 PM (Free Event)

Come celebrate and enjoy great music and food from all around the world! The   Springworld International Festival aims to promote diversity and understanding of other cultures that are represented in our communities. The festival is free to the general public and will also include exhibits and performances from representatives of different nationalities. More information here.

 

  • Magic in the Plaza at Sugar Land Town Square – Saturday, April 15th, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM (Free Event)

Sugar Land Town Square is hosting a “night of magic” for family and friends of all ages! Ted Schwank is showcasing The World’s Greatest Illusions Grand Production Show & Plaza Party featuring interactive DJ with games, prizes, strolling entertainers, face painting, giveaways and more.   • Picnic in the Park at Evelyn’s Park – Saturday, April 22nd, 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Free Event)

Get outdoors and celebrate Earth Day at the grand opening of Evelyn’s Park Conservancy nestled in the heart of Bellaire! Open to the public, there will be picnics, culinary events, a mini-farmer’s market, beer and wine tastings, music, fitness wellness, a treasure hunt, food trucks, kid activities and more!   • Houston Museum of Natural Science Family Space Day – Saturday, April 29th, Starting at 3:00 PM (Charged Event)

Kids and adults, of all ages, can be an astronaut for a day! Fly to the moon with NASA volunteers in the Expedition Center. You can participate in real astronaut training as you go into outer space on a simulated space flight – held at the Expedition Learning Center at the George Observatory.   • Texas Crawfish & Music Festival at Preservation Park – Saturday, April 29th, 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM & Sunday, April 30th, 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM (Charged Event)

We are officially in “mud-bug” season! You can enjoy a day of delicious crawfish and live music at the 31st Annual Texas Crawfish Festival at Preservation Park in Old Town Spring. For adults, there will be beer/wine selections and live music. Kids can enjoy carnival rides, games, and a petting zoo. The family-friendly event costs $12 for ages 13+ and $5 for ages 5-12.
