Mayor Turner announces Magical Winter Lights as a new sponsor for Houston’s HEB Thanksgiving Parade and Reliant Energy’s Mayor Tree Lighting

Houston – October 27, 2016 – Mayor Sylvester Turner holds a press conference at City Hall to kick-off the 2016 holiday season by inviting Houstonians to participate in the celebration of the 67th Annual H-E-B Thanksgiving Parade and the 97th Annual Mayor Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting Presented by Reliant, an NRG company.

On behalf of the Mayor’s Office of Special Events, Mayor Turner announced this year’s sponsors as well as details on what the people of Houston can expect to see at each holiday celebration.

“As my first official Holiday Celebration as Mayor of the Houston, I am privileged to be a part of such a long-standing tradition, and want to thank Reliant and all of our sponsors who have continued to make this event truly memorable.”

People Generation, the producing company of Magical Winter Lights, is proud to announce that it joins a number of companies and organizations as an acting sponsor for both holiday events. HEB’s Public Affairs Director, Cindy Roberts Garza took to the podium to announce Magical Winter Light’s involvement in this year’s Thanksgiving parade.

“[People Generation] is bringing the Magical Winter Lights float and is going to feature the multi-cultural take on the traditional holiday light show […] this new float is going to show all the different traditions we celebrate here in our city and throughout the country.”

Magical Winter Lights will also partake in the Mayor Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting Presented by Reliant an NRG company, on Friday, December 2nd. As an official sponsor, Magical Winter Lights will be participating in the annual celebration that is set to feature performances by former Destiny’s Child member and Grammy-nominated singer, Michelle Williams, and electro Hip Hop Violinist and Americas Got Talent alumnus, Svet.

“The H-E-B Thanksgiving Parade and Mayor’s Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting are annual traditions for Houstonians. The 67TH Annual H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade will take place downtown on November 24th at 9 a.m., and will be free and open to the public. Mayor Turner, along with grand marshals, Gold Medalists and Houstonians Simone Biles and Simone Manuel will kick off the event.

The 97th Annual Mayor’s Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting will be hosted with Mayor Turner and Reliant and NRG Retail President Elizabeth Killinger on December 2nd at City Hall on Hermann Square from 6p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will be open to the public.
